“How to request COI and Why you should”

General Liability Insurance Guidance for NPNS Inc Client Organizations

In addition to the list of events your organization submitted with our insurance application, you may need additional evidence of coverage for some of your activities.
Specifically, you will need to order a Certificate of Insurance (COI) when:

* A government agency, business, church or property owner where your event is held requests one.
Examples: – PBOT requires a COI if you host a parade in the public Right of Way  – A property owner asks to be listed as an additional insured while you use their parking lot

* You want to proactively protect the business or property owner where your activity takes place. Example: – A property owner hasn’t asked for a COI but your event may have higher than usual attendance.

Certificates of Insurance cover specific, finite events. Even though you detailed your events for the insurance application, each event you hold should be evaluated.

COIs take time to produce and require specific information. Complete the application thoroughly for prompt processing of your Certificate and answer all questions. Stay alert at your contact email after submission in case there are follow up questions. All insurance related questions should go to Ginger; she is the insurance liaison and will make sure all your insurance questions are answered. Please give us at the very least a month early notice for COI’s in case there are any issues.
